Are Lexi and Rae still together? (June 2023 update)

Netflix’s newest dating series, The Ultimatum: Queer Love, is unique in that it features an entirely queer cast of women and non-binary people, making it a great watch this Pride Month. One of the most popular couples featured in the new season, Lexi and Rae, kept fans on their toes regarding their relationship status. Are they back together? Are they married? Find out what happens between them below.

Spoilers ahead for The Ultimatum: Queer Love finale and reunion

Lexi issued the ultimatum to Rae after the two dated for several years. At the start of The Ultimatum, Rae is unsure if she’s ready for marriage, so the two embark on trial marriages. Lexi gets “married” to Mal, while Rae hooks up with Vanessa. Rae’s relationship with Vanessa causes significant conflict between her and Lexi, as Lexi is not shy regarding her distaste for Vanessa.

But in the end, Lexi and Rae do find their way back together. Rae ends up proposing to Lexi, and Lexi, in turn, proposes to Rae. They seem ready to get married and start the rest of their lives together, but do they make it down the aisle?

Unfortunately, Lexi and Rae do not get married. They were still together at the reunion, but if you stuck around until the very end, you might have noticed a black screen with some text on it that revealed the pair broke up shortly after filming the reunion.

Even though Rae and Lexi seemed to be in a fantastic place during the reunion, they revealed that things changed afterward.

While chatting with Tudum, Rae revealed that Lexi’s lifestyle was changing significantly, and they felt their relationship wasn’t working anymore. Lexi claims they were still struggling to work past things that happened during their trial marriage. If you recall, Lexi took issue with Rae hooking up with Vanessa.

Netflix also appears to have made a mistake with its audio. If you watch the end of the reunion with the audio description turned on, you can hear something not written on-screen.

The voiceover says Lexi suspected Rae was cheating on her, so they called off the wedding. A TikToker pointed it out, you can watch/listen to the clip here. It’s also still in the episode available on Netflix if you go to “audio” and change to “English audio description.”

The actual text only says that Rae and Lexi broke up, so only people with the audio description turned on would have caught it.

Lexi has embarked on a new romance, and she says her current relationship provides everything she was looking for that she could not find with Rae.

According to Lexi, after her trial marriage with Mal, she wanted someone similar to her, though her friendship with Mal remains platonic. Lexi and Mal remain very close friends.

"“I found somebody that gives me all of the love and happiness I felt with Mal, mixed with an intimacy that we’re exploring,” she tells Tudum. “That’s truly what I always wanted when I knew my relationship with Rae was ending — somebody that made me feel the way I felt when I was with Mal and we were walking around San Diego calling each other our wives.”"

After the reunion dropped, Lexi went live on TikTok to introduce her new partner, Zanc, who is a popular photographer.

Even though Lexi has moved on, Rae is happily single for the time being and revealed she’s planning to move from Orange County to Los Angeles soon.
