Extraction 2 is the Netflix movie of the summer so far! The new Netflix original action movie is the sequel to Extraction, which premiered in 2020.
Extraction 2 starring Chris Hemsworth premiered on June 16, 2023, and we’re sure more than a few parents out there are wondering if the movie is okay to watch with kids and/or the whole family.
Like the first movie, Extraction 2 is rated R. According to Netflix, the R-rating comes from “strong/bloody violence throughout and language.”
This movie is about Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) and his team rescuing, also known as extracting, a family of a gang leader held against their will in a Georgian prison. It’s going to be violent, gory, and full of weaponry.
Unless you’re cool with your kids watching all of that, the answer is going to be a big NO. Extraction 2 is not okay for kids. It’s one of the more violent action movies I’ve seen on Netflix in a long time, and it’s definitely one of the more violent Netflix original movies we’ve ever seen.
Although Extraction 2 is not okay for the whole family, there are a number of action movies that are more suitable for kids and the whole family.
Red Noticestarring Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, and Dwayne Johnson is a much more family-friendly Netflix original movie. It’s also the most popular Netflix movie of all time. We highly recommend that one if you’re looking for a family-friendly action comedy. That’s rated PG-13.
If PG-13 is okay for your family, I also recommend The Adam Project starring Ryan Reynolds, Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2 starring Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill, and Uncharted starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.
If a PG action movie on Netflix is more of what you’re looking for, The Sleepover, A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, Chupa, and Yes Day will be good picks for your family.
