Who's in the season 5 main cast?

When it comes to Dynasty, viewers should never get comfortable with the current lineup of characters. In the past four seasons, many characters have come and gone or been recast, and new characters arrive at the manor at the drop of a hat. What are we in for with Dynasty season 5?

Since The CW’s hit yet underrated series began, the cast has shuffled through three different actresses in the role of Cristal Carrington and (technically) three different actresses portraying the unpredictable Carrington matriarch Alexis. The casting shake-ups, if nothing else, keep the show lively.

However, with Dynasty season 4, the cast seems to have reached a place of stability that had been missing from the previous three. The revolving door of departures and arrivals seemed to have steadied, even though we did say goodbye to a favorite character and hello to a new one.

Thankfully, Dynasty season 5 has started filming as of October 2021 with 22 brand-new episodes set to premiere on The CW in Mondays in December 2021 (before moving back to Fridays in March 2022). But which cast members and characters can we expect to see in the upcoming new season?

Going into the fifth season, much of the Dynasty cast remains in tact. After a tumultuous few seasons of casting changes, the core group of series regulars has leveled out with all of our favorites returning for another round of Carrington chaos.

Spoilers for Dynasty season 4 ahead, so look away now if you’re not yet caught up!

As you’ll notice, Alan Dale’s name is missing from the season 5 cast, and that’s because Anders tragically passed away in season 4. The trusted Carrington confidante and majordomo was killed in a car accident but continued appearing in season 4 as the characters mourned his loss.

Likewise, Dynasty fans will also notice the addition of Eliza Bennett’s name as Amanda Carrington. When the Sweet/Vicious star was announced as the long-lost Carrington sibling in season 4, she also signed on as a series regular for season 5, ensuring more sibling drama to come.

It’s the question that’s been on the mind of every Dynasty fan since he was written off in season 2: Will Steven ever return to the series? Even though fans are hoping to see Steven make a comeback in Dynasty season 5, it doesn’t seem super likely at the moment.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to see James Mackay back as Steven next season. Now that there are two more siblings in the fold for Fallon to contend with, it would be amazing to see her reunite with her best friend and brother.

Not to mention, Steven should have the opportunity to mourn Anders, get to know his half-sister Kirby, meet his two new siblings, confront Adam (it’s a long time coming), and finally get some closure with ex-husband Sammy Jo. Ah, we can dream…
