Seven Kings Must Die is now on Netflix. If you’re looking to find out who the seven kings are who die in The Last Kingdom sequel movie, you came to the right place. There are major spoilers for Seven Kings Must Die below.

In the film, there is a prophecy that seven kings must die. It’s told by Finan’s wife, Ingrith, who also dies in the movie.

We shared all of the major deaths in Seven Kings Must Die below, starting with those seven kings.

The first king who kicks the bucket in Seven Kings Must Die is King Edward (Timothy Innes). That’s what kicks off this big ward and brings Uhtred out of retirement and into the equation.

From there, things get tricky! Anlaf, with his spies, forms a large, united army with the four kings of the British Isles to attack Aethelstan. If they win, they keep their sovereignty instead of bending the knee to Aethelstand eventually. If he forms England without them, they will have no choice about what to do. Together, they strike.

In the battle, which is turned because of Uhtred’s plan, a trap is sprung, which results in the death of five men who are not kings yet but are the sons of kings. We’ve shared those five would-be kings below:

The last king to die is obviously Uhtred, right? But is he really dead? Did he really die? That’s where it gets kind of interesting.

At the end of the movie, it’s revealed that Aethelstan is largely considered to be the first King of England for 15 years before his death. Is he the seventh king? Did Uhtred live?

Uhtred is basically the King in the North(umbria) at the end of The Last Kingdom season 5, and the whole story is about him choosing a side or not choosing a side.

At the end of Seven Kings Must Die, and despite numerous betrayals, Uhtred takes the side of Aethelstan and comes up with a plan to stop Anlaf’s forces. Uhtred sustains heavy wounds in the battle, but we later see him pledge his allegiance to Aethelstan, which forms England. Then, Uhtred is left to make a choice: stay with the living or join the Vikings in Valhalla.

We don’t get to see the choice he makes. Instead, we get a voiceover from Finan:

"“Did seven kings die? The chronicles do not record if my Lord Uhtred survived. But, those like me, who knew him, recognize him as the greatest warrior of our age, and the man who made a kingdom.”"

So, it’s up to the audience to decide what happened to Uhtred. I mean, eventually, Uhtred had to die, right? Maybe, it was before Aethelstan, and maybe, it was after, but one of those two characters, in my opinion, would be the seventh king who died.

There are a bunch of notable deaths in Seven Kings Must Die, but luckily, many of our favorite characters don’t meet their bitter end just yet.

We shared the other major deaths below:

That’s all the major deaths we can think of from the movie. Let us know if we missed any big ones in the comments.
